I think it started as Washington's birthday, then expanded to President's day. Also Black History month. Interestingly, Washington was offered the title and role as King following the revolution and independence from England, but he turned it down in favor of a more representative form of govenment with checks and balances, quite a selfless act considering how things are now with politics, egos, and power. The American "founding fathers" were not perfect men or humans by any stretch, but they sure had a strong commitment to a better and lesser form of federal government that was more representative of the people. A grand experiment that has worked out pretty well ... mostly, so far lol ... with all due respect to the Romans and Greeks, and other democracies and republics, of course!

Life is good in North America, and a big shout out to our rugged, fiercely independent, and wonderful friends to the north for beautiful country, "high" beer when I was 18 living in Toledo, pond hockey, moose, the RCMP, less expensive medications, and RVX/apabetalone, among many other things! :)
