Hi Montrose!

I retired at 40, a couple years ago, but for me retirement just meant that I no longer had to reply to a phone call if I did not want to, I no longer had to get out of bed early if I wanted to sleep in, and that I no longer could claim a steady income. Otherwise I have remained as busy as ever. Most people worry about the money they need to retire on, but instead I just choose to consider my 'freedom dividend' as the payoff for choosing to live on less.

This topic came up at an interesting time for me because I receive serious job offers all the time, but this week I decided to accept an offer to become a consultant. Its still not about the money, but for me its a challenge to make a difference and to contribute to build a company, so I am not going to brag about being retired for a while, but hopefully the people who read this will understand that the biggest barrier in the way for most people to walk away from their jobs is simply realising that they have the option to do so if they make a few sacrafices and changes in their lifestyles.

Life is too short to waste the best years doing something you dont like.

cheers!

mike
