On the Kodiak site, you may have noticed three links to stories by Edgar Lavoie, an enterprising reporter at the Geraldton Times Star, ('In the Press,' right side of home page, then click on MORE)
I found a couple more: a July 07 article by Lavoie called "The Hercules Project" and an Aug. 07 article by the same writer called "The Penelton Strike." Great contemporary background material!!
I found these through MyGreenstone.cal, which is an entry point for civic affairs in the region and also a portal to the newspaper's somewhat limited electronic archives.
Here they are:
The Hercules Project ~ July 31, 2007
http://www.mygreenstone.ca/modules.php?name=Times_Star&pa=showtstarpage&pid=173
In this one, Stephen Roach, geologist for Kodiak Exploration Limited, led a party of three through the Hercules property.
The Penelton Strike ~ Aug. 28 2007
http://www.mygreenstone.ca/modules.php?name=Times_Star&pa=showtstarpage&pid=174
In this one, Stephen Roach, along with a local prospector, Amede Lafontaine, rediscover the historic Penelton strike, an event which ocurred a year earlier in August 2006.
I hope you enjoy reading them. I know I did.
Just to get all these in one place, here are the links to the stories
