Keeping them honest:

POET’s had an intraday high on April 16, 2014 of $2.87 and an O/S share count of 150k. The average price in March that year was $1.27. And the O/S share count was 150k at that time.  Today the O/S share count is 288k. That is not the 3-4 times the share count that you posted.

So CAinplap was a shareholder back then and that run-up in share price occurred leading up to Dr Taylors presentation at the Empire Club which CAinplap attended. He certainly had an opportunity to sell at that time and why don’t you ask him if he did?

More to the point. Many of the people here have been with POET over that time period and more. Why aren’t we complaining and weeping and running down the company and saying we no longer believe anything they say.

There have been many technologies that have shown great promise. Suresh has been working on the integration problem for a long time before he joined POET. He has investigated a number of platforms and this one right now does it. The point is there have been many more failures than successes on this path by everyone.

Not very many people win the lottery. That is I think what many people thought the POET GaAs platform was. That is what I thought it was based on the experts. As long as the epi doesn’t change and remains stable and all devices are built on the same epi then combining these devices on the same wafer is just an exercise.

Suresh looked at that platform and crushed a lot of people’s hopes for that lotter win. PET was very quickly pushed to the side and optical integration using a monolithic process at 850nm with a VCSEL thyristor structure was perused. The monolithic design did not work out. Every change made to correct one deficiency created new ones and POET nether had the time or money to make it work.

But they did not need to make it work because Suresh was already working on a new material set. He recognized that the future was in single mode fiber with longer reach at a higher wavelength with WDM capability.  And industry began to recognize this. Suresh knew that 3d technologies were becoming main-stream and a very reliable approach to electronic integration of chip sets.

As thy developed the MUX/DEMUX the capabilities of the dielectric to provide very versatile and efficient waveguides in a CMOS friendly (low temperature) process with exceptional  modal  control became apparent and that this provided a path to optical integration that could surpass anything that was in the market today.  It was what the industry was looking for.

.

Back to my point.  Many of us have lived through all these ups and downs and we have focused on the evolution of this company. We did not win the early lottery but we are still here and grateful to Suresh for keeping this company alive with his hard work and brilliance.

It drives me bonkers to listen to someone like CAinplap continue to live in the past and seemingly wanting everyone to suffer. Well we are all suffering but we can recognize that Suresh is making huge moves to launch this platform which he and others including competitor’s recognize as a very superior platform.
