I had the same feelings to contend with while selling to cover the tax in "trying" to transfer from my Locked-in RRSP. My solace lay in the simple math I did to figure out how much PTK would have to appreciate in the TFSA to replace the shares lost. Much less than you might think. Well worth the loss to transfer. I turn 40 this year which is another reason I'd rather transfer the shares out of my locked-in accounts. If I have to wait until my age allows me to access them, that's a lot of time to wait and subsequently a lot of tax deducted of my investment.
