HOGAN Junior: It is my understanding SPX is our only way of manufacturing optical engines currently. If FIT is sourcing all components from outside of China then where are the engines coming from if POET "fits that need".
It is my understanding the manufacturing of the optical enginges (OE) requires two steps:
- production of the OE-specific optical interposer (OI) with all passive components by POET at Silterra,
- adding the active components by SPX.
As I understand it, in the Foxconn deal, step 2 will be done by FIT. And why not? There’s no special optical interposer know-how required.
