Rainer, I love what you highlighted by Suresh
POET makes optical modules that enable optical data transmission. And this is fundamental to scaling the presence of AI. Others make optical modules as well. But POET has developed unique intellectual property that allows us to make these modules better, cheaper, lower power, and larger scale than anyone else. More than cost or bill of sales it is the scale where POET shines.” (Dr. Suresh Venkatesan)
Anthony Yu CEO of Global Foundries stated the Same Thing June 8 in a lightwave webinar with Microsoft Nividia and Ayar Labs that it's the scalability that's the key for Silicon Photonics. This shows us once again, Suresh is ahead of the curve.
Here's another instance where Suresh shows he can see where the puck is going from the laser focus world article,
A July report by Semianalysis discusses how large chipmakers are using some form of silicon photonics to attempt to meet the demand for more memory and compute data. Notably, the article cites the use of through-silicon vias (TSVs) and flip-chip bonders as being key elements to deliver the required signal integrity and efficiency needed for AI. These key features are already part of POET’s optical interposer.
Anthony Yu once again stated he's building TSV's for his Gen IV iteration of his optical engine design (his current Gen III does not include the TSV's)
I know Suresh's timelines are usually too optimistic, but when it comes to his focus and direction, he's listening to the right people and making good decisions with our limited capital.
