The above is a quote from this year’s AGSM presentation. I have begun to create a transcript and could well need some help. Luckily, YouTube has already done the bulk of that work by deploying automatic speech recognition and creating captions for the AGSM video.

However, this is not perfect and still needs some polishing, like correcting misrecognized words and phrases, adding punctuation, fixing capitalization, and the like. I have already proceeded with this review until 0:33 or so.

I have created a project on GitHub we can use to collaborate on this. The file captions.sbv contains the captions in a plain text-based, easy to understand and easy to edit format. If you’d like to help and are familiar with GitHub, you will like it, if not, you might want to learn something new. ;-)

I’ve also created an “issue” for this task where we can coordinate, in order to save double work, who is reviewing and editing what.

From time to time, I will then update the captions on YouTube accordingly, so everyone can benefit.

Additionally, there’s a separate file quotes.md we can collect particular quotes, like the one above (which is the only one for now).
