Just to be clear Silicon Optical Modulators have been around for a long time and the principles of operation are well understood. In the case of POET the optical modulator will ultimately be inserted into the POET dielectric waveguide stack utilizing a spot size converter to match POETs very low insertion loss standards which is the hallmark of the POET platform. Who will be the supplier(s)?

 

Remember that the strength of POET is the ability to mix and match the best material sets for the best performance and give a level of versatility which is very rare.
