ITTR: "I'm not sure that Acacia is fully "fishing in POET's pond", but rather could be one of the "variety of suppliers" to provide interoperable parts to complete whole products."
Agreed ITTR. No doubt there will be overlap in business and pond sharing to occur moving forward. mMy understanding is Cisco's interest in Acacia is/was for their long haul coherent products, not exactly deep in POET's current pond. If anything, there's more of an obvious overlap between POET/Sanan transceivers and Luxtera (Cisco) product offerings; further, we know the immediate connection with our Tier 1 is CPO and the light bar, and not necessarily JV transceivers at all.
Back to your point. Rather than competing, POET is offering a means to improve or replace discrete components of larger packaged products. We suspect Denselight has already been working with Acacia on product development, IMO this means POET's OI or technology may already be somewhere in their mix. Management has stated all along, the idea behind the OI platform is any Tier 1 or Tier 1 supplier will benfefit from POET's technology. A win-win! But a win mostly for POET!
