Van and ITTR,
I took at look at Acacia's products and applications page. Their speciallty in interconnects seems to be in the DSP and coherent technologies needed for the longer haul (ZR). Remember that we are focused on DR (I can't remember full list of "R"s now) that are within the data center. As you go into the data center the pluggables must be lower cost but you are using orders of magnitudes more devices. As you go out to long haul costs can go up for peak performance since you are not buying as many.
Could OI be used in a ZR design? POET to my knowledge has never come out and said we support coherent optics but I think it is implied in the AI application. Suresh has made comments to the effect that we are focused on DR, etc since that is where the market need is biggest. Don't know that our cost reduction is as important in ZR but if possible why not?
Could Acacias DSP technology benefit us? As speed needed in short disance connections increases (such as co-packaged optics), this may become more common.
Someone as big as Cisco or Broadcom could use both an Acacia and a POET I think.
