Vanvillian "With respect to those asking for more PR, I would challenge who exactly POET should be targeting? It's become abundantly clear that retail and even institutional investors have no clue of what POET really is."
The answer you provided to your own question is exactly what we are asking for. If retail and institutional investors have no clue, the company needs to give them a clue. They need a brand awareness in the financial markets in order to get the share price to run when the news hits. We only have so much more to give around here. The investor base needs some growth too. As others have pointed out having recent news releases on the website should be automatic. No excuse for that. Simple, low-cost opportunities to get investor attention. Investors don't care about "tech nuances." We don't need to spend much money marketing to other potential customers either. We've heard it from Suresh and Mika, the customers just want that data.
I think we can all agree from the info we have that management is firing all cylinders when it comes to finding and securing customers. But those customers are looking for a product or component, not a stock to invest in. To be successful we need both customers and investors.
When I try to explain to others what Poet is doing, I start with copper vs fiber internet speeds. Everyone knows fiber is faster and we all want faster. I then explain that somewhere along the path from their home to the interwebs there needs to be a conversion from photons to electrons and electrons to photons. That conversion is where Poet resides, while being a cost and performance leader. Maybe that's not a perfect description but it's good enough for me and is basic enough for 7 years-olds to comprehend. I'm not saying that should be posted on Twitter, but the idea is any audience can be marketed to.
There are some here that believe that we need revenue (or insert a well-known partner here) to move the stock and that is a possiblity because we haven't had an announcement to disprove that thought. My fear is that we get the annoucement and don't move nearly as much as we are all expecting. I know I will be punished for saying this, and it's been said here over the years, if Poet announces multiple customers but doesn't get additional investors on board in a timely manner, a buyout well below market potential is likely to occur, by a competitor or possibly even a customer looking to veritically integrate. That is the risk I want the company to mitigate next, I am very content with the progess on the tech front.
Good luck, Jque
