I felt the need to read the TM transcript again, (thanks Rogue) just to bide the time.
This thought did cross my mind as I was listening along to the actual presentation. The choice of which question to ask and answer was entirely Mika's. You could hear him pausing and glancing over the options, before posing and and addressing the submissions.
He CHOSE to bring up this question: [28:48] Is POET prepared for the possibility that one of these big companies will want to gain access to the technology.
"I think that’s probably a question of whether we expect to be or are trying to be acquired. The answer is no. We expect to grow a major company based on a unique invention of the interposer. That’s what our plan is, which is to grow a company. No one ever plans to be acquired. At least I don’t think they do."
I know people get annoyed on this forum when topic of "takeover/acquisition" comes up. This Management group is not stupid. They made the pivot at just the right time, with the right concept and the appropriate science. If they deliver on what they have outlined in this presentation and on their website, then in theory, this company would be a major growing concern in a rapidly growing space. There are some mega Tier 1's sitting on boatloads of cash right now, that are actually thriving in our current situation, but which need more speed. Might one of them feel that their ability to deliver more bandwidth and more speed will give them a significant market advantage?
Do I believe MGMT is angling for a buy-out? No. Would they prefer to have a large chunk of the market spread amongst several large companies? Yes. Are they aware that if proof of concept and production capability is fullfilled, they may be targeted? OF COURSE they are! In my opinion, that possibility is higher now, when the market cap is lower, than a year from now when production and revenue starts flowing.
