Interesting!
IQE supplies and has expertise in epitaxies, whilst PTI has a problem connecting the 4th terminal of its integrated PIC and could do with some help with getting the mix right. Clearly, there is opportunity here of mutual benefit to both companies i.e. Help us get our mix right and we will be ordering loads of your products. Don't you think we can come to some arrangement as our finances are getting too tight for us to go it alone at present
IQE appers to be doing very well but currently its SP is the subject of a bear attack by an analyst who has a short position. This sounds familiar and rather emphaisises that the photonics tsunami heading our way is subject to a degree of maniputlation by profiteers. Clearly there are difficulties for startups learning to surf in such seas.
Interesting too that they also have a fruity aura about them.
All in all IQE as a partner would b technically benefical but I am not sure they can be the white knight we require on the financial side. I have a degree of faith in the notion that if the SP gets to the point that the warrent holders will exercise their option this will extend the leeway needed to get POET to a point where income can support the devlopment of the first truely POET product. In the absence of a well heeled partner, IQE might well be worth hoding hands with to keep balance.
