Those are good points, Moska. I remember in the personal computing word processing software space when Wordstar and Wordperfect had large shares of the market. Microsoft Word then entered the space and eventually took control of 80% of the market. Now that was a blue ocean.

During Microsoft Word (Office)'s rise to fame they had to battle customer loyalty and software standardization by companies. Microsoft had to displace (disrupt) the market. How did they do that? Corporate schmoozing to make CEOs understand the value propostion they bring to the table, add other features, the benefits of software integration for compatibility, and when all this shakes out, which company is likely to still be around when others try to get competitive.

It really all boils down to what customers want and how well a company can execute to deliver that value proposition, even if it is at a premium price during the first few phases of a product's lifespan. Customers will buy in in droves if you have the best overall solution.
