Commodities as you know are usually thin-margined products that normally are sold in great volume. Well, I believe that one of POET's strategies, and they want to do it right the first time, is to 'disrupt' a commodity market and turn it into a higher margin (gravy-train) type of product until competition comes along. A commodity is global. It will get POET around the world in 88 days, so to speak. Then, POET can make inroads into friendly markets because of their 'goodwill' (good name) and bring in their other products and whom they co-develope, NRE or partner with.
Suresh has said to get into the data room first, and then they can make inroads with other products. A 'disruption' in the market will give you that respect and attention in my opinion.
