Rainer mentioned that Dr Taylor had multiple knee surgeries. What isn't readily known is that the first one went very wrong and  infection nearly claimed him. It was a huge undertaking to get the infection under control and once that was corrected, the damage done to the replaced knee by infection made it necessary to do a second replacement. After a very lengthy rehabilitation, he has returned, with assistance, to his lab at UCONN. The cost, in terms of finances and quality of life. was extensive.
