No, it is just a standard like 100 GHz and 25 GHz. Nothing special about that. I am still wondering what the competitive advances of the POET VCSEL or VCSEL array might be. Probably high efficiency, i.e. much light for low power, but as of now we haven't been told any specifics.

In the worst case scenario it is "just" a VCSEL (low-hanging fruit), but with global VCSEL demand growing by 33 % each year until 2018, even a simple VCSEL should lead to some revenue. (The best case scenario I'll leave to the dot connectors …)
