The Whale and The Herring

For many years a certain white whale and a tiny herring had been inseparable friends. Wherever the white whale roamed in search of food, the herring was sure to be swimming right along beside him. One fine spring day the herring turned up off the coast of Norway without his companion. Naturally all the other fish were curious, and an octopus finally asked the herring what happened to his whale friend.
"How should I know?" the herring replied. "Am I my blubber's kipper?"

Facility Update
The Company has recently established a satellite office in Silicon Valley, San Jose, California. Mr. Stephane Gagnon, Chief Operating Officer notes, "We are excited to finally have an interim office in Silicon Valley while negotiations are underway for a permanent office. It is important to have a presence in the Valley because the majority of our potential customers and partners are located there. Our Executive Vice Chairman, Ajit Manocha is based in the heart of the Silicon Valley and is already active in engaging with potential strategic partners and stakeholders."

Whats all the excitement about a simple office in some valley some where ?
Whats going to happen in that simple office ?
Who are the potential customers ?
What is engaging a customer all about ?
In the marketing world, there lies a clash between old world and new world techniques. In the technology world, its all new, all the time, and its whats coming tomorrow ? In technology marketing, its a hybrid mixture of just about everything. I wish I could tell a few examples of my experience to assist in making the point. Confidentiality agreements are what stands in my way. I am sorry for that. All that matters is that PTK can afford the best.

A healthy component of human psychology is also a standard. Humans are all about control. They like security, and control and strive everyday to keep their person and persona secure, and control the speed, path and overall direction of their lives. Unfortunately as we all know, many have a low percentage of success in this endeavour, with the remainder of us having varying degrees of success.

So its with great interest that those of us in the marketing of technology, take these factors and try and apply them to a marketing campaign. So what about the psychology of control would apply in a technology marketing campaign ? Simply....access and specifically instant access to everything in an individuals life that makes them feel comfortable and in control. The handset industry recognized this yen some years ago. The mere fact(s) that someone can now, check their child, their car, their home, their portfolio, the weather......and on and on, is the comfort factor and in being comfortable seems to lead them to the feeling that they are in control. Enough psychology. Again there is so much more to say....but unfortunately can not.
Interesting now, will be the speed and direction that PTK will take. A temporary office with a permanent address to come. This means that you don't open a pizza shop unless you have the dough and the ovens. This means that the technology works and can be processed in sufficient quantities. This means Mr. Manocha feels its time to let the world know, or at least the potential world. This means from the shadows to the limelight. It all equals history in the making and we are directly smack in the middle of it.
A Herring among Whales, a Herring that itself will become a whale.

PTK will maintain an office in Silicon Valley so that they can show the world their technology. Mr. Manocha and his staff will no doubt have an existing client list they seek to meet with. If I am correct, the good doctors Rolodex, has already or will receive a generous workout. I fully expect that he, in his marketing efforts, he will have some blue chip chatter to extoll to his new clientele. Why ? quite simply, you don't kick off a parade without a parade marshall and a lead float. What better to excite demand than showing a prospective client (most likely under NDA-then again maybe not) the Whale thats on the hook.

Dependent on the clients wants and needs list will be how the marketing and/or sales presentation will be formatted. Now I have stated in the past, this a dream product to market. It has so many overlays, so many features that are saleable, so many opportunites, markets and uses. I doubt very much that Mr. Manocha and the PTK team will have any difficulty selling this story, this product. In fact, this story has promise to become the news and technology story of 2015. It will not only take the valley by storm, but also the industry and the general populace as well. Mr. Manocha's team building, share all, open source concept will lead to PTK being the de facto player in the space.
Its my expectation that the actual monetary schedules have been researched, discussed, assigned, and set in stone so as to have ready when the actual marketing thrust begins and clients line up at the door. If rumours are to be believed, then they already have a quoted from these schedules to form the basis of any signed deal(s). Although the newly minted client will want a set price point based on a number of factors, I really think that its a matter of fact situation (pricing) for PTK in that they will be able to dictate whatever price point they like. Again based on my experiences, a premium for those that want a complete system at their disposal.A product revolutionary and history bound. Who would not want to pay for their piece of that hiistory ? To ensure enshrinement.
The Herring shall then become a Whale.
