Hi folks!

Still really busy so I can't post the way I used to, but I'm still intrigued with this Google EC event.

I've made no secret about my doubt that there is any kind of joint announcement, but I would love to be proven wrong. My beliefs about this come from the fact that Ajit was subbed in for Peter as an afterthought, rather than as Plan A. IMO, IBK has placed Ajit at the head table for a casual meeting, the way a golf game might serve the same purpose.

Also, Ajit could have just called them up to set a meeting to discuss POET. My feeling is that perhaps a meeting *is* planned, but was set to coincide with the book talk for convenience. In either case, we will likely have to wait for a long time to know if this was a fruitful event.

There has been talk about the value POET holds for a company like Google in the area of server farms, but I also wanted to add another possibility:

https://fiber.google.com/about2/

Google has been "piloting" Google fibre in select cities in the US and a Seeking Alpha article (not that I give those write-ups any weight these days:) that Google has been actively bringing fast internet to cities in developing countries also.

POET's technology would be an absolute perfect fit for Google’s efforts in fiber optics. The necessary products are part of "Phase II" on slide 24.
