Silentrunning, I am thinking along similar lines regarding POET's value in vertical markets, but I am coming to different conclusions.

I don't see selling separate parts as independent companies. The reason is that the technological foundation resp. IP is the same for all of them and should/can be further developed efficiently in a single entity only where everything is in one hand, preferrably in the hand of Dr. T.

I believe there is no one company which can cover all vertical markets. A consortium could be an option, but it would be difficult to form one which covered all markets. The licensing model is much easier to deploy. A future POET Technologies Inc. could concentrate on

  1. further development of the POET platform as the common foundation
  2. development of specific products or product foundations for vertical markets
  3. licensing
  4. marketing

This would of course not rule out a takeover of the whole company.
