Opposition to RofF from Mushkegowuk Council, Neskantaga First Nation and Canadian Environmental Law Association (CELA) re Protection Plan:
"They collectively say health, housing, clean water, and Indigenous and treaty rights must be prioritized and secured before there's construction and mining."
( CELA, "Toronto-based CELA bills itself as a not-for-profit legal clinic, funded by Legal Aid Ontario, that works to seek justice for those harmed by pollution and looks to change policy to prevent such problems. Their staff and board members are experts in ecological science, environmental and natural resources law." )
So why do they not form that plan according to what THEY consider viable and practical?
That provided, discussions could be started to satisfy all.
Health and housing can only be achieved AFTER the tax money from mining starts to flow. And clean water can only be assured through agreement between the communities and Noront along proposed road and mine site as to how to protect it.
But the crux of the problem is that many natives want their cake before there is any money for it to be afforded. Governments, mainly Ontario, should step in to provide the initial funding.
"Two First Nation communities in the James Bay region, Marten Falls and Webequie First Nations, are road project proponents."
So these two are quite happy to have their regions polluted and rights abused? LOL. That is in the face of the extreme unreasonability of the environmentalists.
Aside re Ford:
"When Ford was first elected he promised to shorten the time it takes for EA's and permits etc to work through the red tape. Wonder what happened to that."
He got elected so now he has no interest to play with bulldozers.
Same old from Ed
