irish,
Interesting NR, especially the front part: "Noront has agreed to support Marten Falls First Nation (MFFN) as the proponent of a winter road to access its Eagle's Nest Mine in the Ring of Fire. MFFN has submitted a permit application to build a winter road from Marten Falls to Noront's Esker camp where the Eagle's Nest Mine will be located. This road will be used to transport bulk materials including fuel and heavy equipment, to be used for work on the existing airstrip and to help ensure that Noront is in position to initiate mining activities once the necessary approvals are in place."
This new winter road from Marten Falls to the RoF would seem to align with the Northern portion of the Alternate EW corridor proposed by KWG. Quite interesting indeed! It sounds like NOT has put the winter road from Webequie to the RoF in the back burner.
It should not be a surprise to see KWG support for this application as well, since this would help the NS RR plus a permanent service road on the NS corridor. Note: It's easier to apply for a permanent transportation route on an approved ice road route, and NOT has used this argument before for its proposal to build the permanent road from Hwy 808 to Webequie.
The pieces seem to fall into place.
