I had to smile Saturday morning reading the business section of the Calgary Herald. Not because of anything amusing rather because of something ironic. In a few days and in one article, and in one corner of one province, multiple Multi Billion dollar heavy oil extraction projects were announced adding to the provincial and national GDP and economy. There are issues as there always are like jobs, roads, rail, pipelines, First Nations interests, access and transportation to and from the oilsands. Environment, ecology, tailings, preparation of product with steam to liquify and access the heavy material, processing and refining. But yet in the frozen north with soggy ferma and all the projects entail, they get announced and get on with it. In the ROF, its boggy and God forbid we need a rail line or a 4 seasons road and those pesky First Nations people...what to do with them? Seriously? Dear Ontario, here's an open letter. "Get on with it already, what part of $50Billion to the economy don't you get"?
What, this is not the same thing? Apples to pears? Nice try, its about greed right now and not wanting to offend anyone...the ROF should have been in its first stages of development by now. Cliffs Resources has every right to take their current posiiton IMO. They are looking at this mickey mouse process and all the crap and excuses and incompetance by the liberal provincial governement and taking a valid stance.
Here's the article.
