Some interesting perspectives... Quite seredipitously, as I was making my usual a.m. rounds, scanning the mining-related websites I just happened upon the folowing painting by artist Lawrence Paul Yuxweluptun. It is entitled: New Chiefs on the Land. I had never heard of this artist before, and my inititial "impression" was that it was symbolic of how the First Nations had/are shedding their old stereotypical attitudes/faces, and adopting a more business-like/professional attitude (by pursuing and attaining higher-education in the fields of law , engineering perhaps, etc.) and by engaging with an entrepreneurial spirit in an attempt to maximize "their peoples" share of profits from the resources surrounding their lands.

....In fact, the artist's inspiration for the painting..."He is very concerned with water contamination from fracking. The men in the painting represent “Suits” from all nationalities who profit from natural resources."

"YPL does have a price for the painting, however: $75,000."

hmmm...it seems that someone does have an entrepreneurial bent.

Cheers, Luker
