An election would risk the current Liberal term if the budget does not pass the house. Strongly promoting significant spending in Northern Ontario in a budget will not garner votes in Southern Ontario. It could easily be turned against the Liberals under an election scenerio and guarantee a Liberal election loss. To me, the Liberal strategy of a low key, NDP supportable budget getting past is the only hope they have of staying in power. If they succeed, things will move quickly as they have only a short time left to prove their 'new' worth to Ontario. When it comes down to it Nothern Ontario (aka Ring of Fire) maybe the only place where that worth can be easily and quickly demonstrated. So pass the budget, finalize deals, announce infrastructure plans and spend the rest of the tern promoting legacy credit for job creation, FN renewal, revitalizng the North and bringing prosperity to all of Ontario. Don't and they got nothing. Imo, of course.
