'If these sites are soo important to the present, active Native populations, now living in or on the vicinity why haven't "THEY" taken steps to preserve their ancestors tempotary campng sites Themselves ? I have found that many simply regard them as garbage dumps and continue to dump more there.

Rightly so. I am in Stuttgart Germany right now and I can smell it all the way over here, lol.
