In democracy, it is not mainly wether one has a right or not against the Crown (or a private party). You can always try to get a piece of the cake if you can pretend to have it, based on anything that could have some ground... Even with no real case! Pretending to have a right may be just like pooring a truckload of molasses onto the dance floor... Suddenly, nobody can keep up with the music anymore, and all are getting nervous trying to find a way out, rising a foot while the other is still glued, taking support on his neighbor to stay in balance! The vast majority of judicial cases will end with some kind of settlement, and the molasses trick could make good winners at times! Like it or not!
