Any mistakes in trading that there are to make.... I have made them in spades. I've held onto a stock too long, I've sold at the bottom, lost a lot of money after making a lot of money....yada yada yada. I love Buffet's two rules about investing:
1. Don't lose money
2. Never forget rule #1
These two rules fundamentally say.....protect your capital first and foremost and then worry about the rest. I haven't met or heard of a professional investor who didn't lose a ton of money in the past and the present. Ultimately they were always able to make more than they lost owing to a set of rules they adhered to religiously. They've come to terms with what is takes to be successful.
Personally I feel like I have been given a gift in making the mistakes that I've made. At times they brought me very low but ultimately they allowed me to become better, to deal with things that got in the way of investing effectively. The money to be made is important for many aspects of our physical existance, but many of us have found just how meaningless it can be when more important issues knock on our doors. It's all just stuff and many in our world have obscurred their view of life with things to their great loss. So, if NOT is going to do some nice things shortly, and I hope it does in spades, don't forget to check your responses to it. The feeling was reallly nice on Friday....but stay balanced and clear headed.....and make good decisions. You just may have the chance before long to improve some of your past efforts in the market.
Cheers,
Sum
