And just to add to this, the lot of mining companies with this .4-.6 % copper are older mines, that have mined the high grade first to pay off the infrastructure costs and now only have operating costs to consider. One example is highland Valley copper, near Merrit, with an operating cost of about .75 lb, while mining .35% copper.

There is no way a new mine would be developed at these grades though, as the huge infrastructure costs would be prohibitive. In the ROF area, even after the transportation infrastructure is in place, you would need a minimum of 2% copper,including other credits, and a lot of it, to develop a mine/mill.
