There is a tendancy to be too perochial in these disputes. One needs to look at the situation on a world scale.

What is the old saying, the pendulum needs to swing far to the side before it can come to rest in the middle.

Sometimes it pays to take a step back and be grateful for all our blessings. As you say, if we don't keep our expectations in check, the world can pass us by and we are left with nothing.

I hate to use this analogy but look at Tiger Woods. This may seem like a stupid example but it is an example of always wanting more and not really appreciating what you have.

Someone once told me there are no free lunches and they were right.
