Add to that the fact that oil consumption on this planet has gone from essentially zero to present use in approximately 100 years. Most producing fields worldwide are in a declining path, and at present rate will be totally depleted within 50 years. A partial switch to alternatives can extend this to 200 years. It may not happen today, but at some point there will be no choice.
