Gold futures climbed yesterday as the U.S. dollar fell amid speculation that major emerging countries could diversify their reserves away from the greenback, boosting bullion as a hedge against the dollar. Gold for August delivery settled at $932.20 (U.S.) in New York, up $4.70.
