One of the things about this short selling is that even if the shorters do legally borrow your shares, they are using them to drive the price of your shares down, effectively using them against you. It seems crazy to me.
Then if they can manage to break the company, they walk away with the proceeds of the sales (tax free) and do not have to produce any proof of borrowing your shares or have to cover the short sell. This a legal theft in Canada.
I am firmly convinced after talking to some investment people that the SEC is definitely in the pocket of the large financial/trading institutions.
