Hi Cos,

From my own experience, that makes perfect sense! First instinct is 'oh lord, down we go' or 'Yipee - nice spike!'. It was only after I learned to look at the volume, the amount of shares actually traded, that it became clear that something odd (pun intended) was going on. I does cause me to check over things and so lose the momenum or mood of the action. I could see an inexperienced person, seeing a down spike, lower their ask price out of fear that the momentum is changing.
