I learned long ago that first impressions are often wrong and that it pays to give people a chance before you judge them. I was presenting at a conference Kenora many years ago and after the presentation an old guy (I was much younger then) came up and started pumping me on the project I presented on. Given he bought me a beer and I had nothing more pressing to do I talked to him for about an hour. At the end of that time he asked me if we were interested in a JV partner on the property adjacent to the find. Being the 26 year old S _ _ _ Hot project geologist I was, I said sure (see how far a beer will get you with a guy that has been in the field for a while). I got a rough number from the office and tossed out a suitablely big 7 figure number to see if he blinked. The short version is that he turned out to be the president of a wholly owed subsidiary of Placer Dome, who at the time had lots of cash. He flew to Toronto the next day and the deal was done. The moral of the story is that you don't know what a person has to contribute until you give them a chance to share it. Sure we have basher lurking and waiting for a chance to spook us but most newbies are just that, newbies. It might turn out that one of those newbies tells us that he/she just loaded a case of champagne on a plane destined for the team at McFauld and we can all guess what that means.

I'd rather have people posting that have something to say then for them to hold back something that might be interesting or valuable. So newbies ...... post away. I and many others will give you the benefit of the doubt until you have a bit of a track record. A little tolerance goes a long way.

... Been There (I was once a newbie too)
