If you respect this person's opinion on investments and it sounds like he (they) has done well, just ask him for his opinion on NOT as YOU are looking at it and want his opinion. This way you are introducing NOT to him and if he values you then presumabliy he (they) will do the required DD to give you what he really thinks of it. If he likes what he sees then it may be enough motivation for him (them) to take action; in the end it is his (their) decision to buy not yours. On the other hand you may not like his response based on his DD based on his investment style etc, as it could be too spectulative for him (them) and not match their investment style. How do you know if he is currently not invested in NOT? Your question is more complex then posted, but I would not give advice but rather seek advice using him (them) as your conduit to introducing NOT. I appreciate you want to reward him (them), but be very carefull about recommending any stock to anyone as it can be a slippery slope and potentially affect your relationships. Just my opinion only.
