I enjoyed your post and I believe we're on the same page. I think we need to emphasize however the following:

The price of energy is going up true, but only because the value of the dollar is going down and the oil market runs on dollars.

I do agree that, in the long term, oil will grow more scarce and more valuable in REAL terms, but today I don't think there is any scarcity in the flow of oil.

This is what is so disheartening about the political response to the price of oil, candidates blame the oil companys and OPEC when they know full well (or should!) that it is the money that is worth less, not that the oil is worth more.

An the general public believes what they hear on the news...

"The price of oil rose again today..."

Those greedy oil bastards! grumble, grumble...
