There is one  major short source that implies little about the direction of value: the holder of a warrant, convertible or other future share entitlement such as a green shoe, may simply be pre-selling those equivalent share entitlements at what he tthinks is a reasonably attractive price. He runs a business and had no intention of being a long term shareholder.
