Are you sure you would have to sell? If it is a personal account you should be able to the physical shares whenever you want them. At least you can in the us. I also transferred some shares from my IRA to my personal account without selling. I had to pay ordinary income taxes but felt the upside was so great I wanted capital gains when(if) I ever sell.
