I`ll bite on this scenario -
A shot like that has to be approved and driven from the top down. At $100M, this becomes a decision involving alot of heavyweights. When the PTSC/AMD license agreement was inked, the only comment came from AMD`s legal team, nada that I know from any AMD execs.
This could have been by design to make this look like just a ``defensive`` deal, but I couldn`t give AMD credit for foresight to be working up a ``major strategy`` during that timeframe. (This does not imply AMD is inept.)
The type of campaign you`re talking about has to run through dog and pony shows at the upper most levels before it`s blessed. That takes time. Wallin (or someone) commented that PTSC had been hammering on (my words) the AMD license deal for 6 months, and that just closed a few weeks back.
To take something (assumably new twist) of this magniture up the ladder starting from a very recent point could take every day, up to the day we go to the CMC. Unless these were worked as parallel strategies,(which I dooubt) I wonder if this can ``go`` at CMC time, or does the book get closed on this case (under B&O reign) at the CMC and re-upped as a new case (under AMD legal) at leadtime demonstrated at about 10 months out?
