ease, the dividend has always been an issue with me in trying to determine what the company is doing. it has always been easy for me to assume the BOD is clueless because i have been in this stock since 1995 and have witnessed so many promises and seen absolutely nothing come to bare.....except the OS go from around 25 million to 400 million.
but the dividend was so unexpected that I had assumed that the money in the treasury (remember we just released Sony as a licensee) was huge. Not 1 dividend mind you, but three..in a very small time window. And then we find out that we pretty much dumped the entire treasury out in dividends....it still amazes me even as i write this. The Sony numbers were a disappointment but the idea that we did not keep the bulk of the funds for something a little more constructive with regards to growing the company was a shock. how could this group (BOD) do something so counter productive to growing the company? If it was for the 1 time novelty PR of being unprecedented as a BB stock for issuing dividends then I would prefer the anominity. It made no real sound business sense.
Since then we have witnessed every positive news on PTSC be met with selling. we have all been suffering thru this frustration.
My hope is that PTSC and S&L realized that this was no longer a typical "pipe financed" company and that eventually they will need to reduce their exposure in the stock.....and i know this has caused some debate, but given the fact that dividends were issued and explicitly included the warrant holder.....that maybe a deal was struck with S&L. Ex: Reduce your holdings to 10 million by Jan1, 2008 and we will pay you X$'s (dividend) . i know it is probably a stetch in logic but the alternative is what? the bod is clueless and dumped the treasury....?
this company (IMO) is poised for big things. I believe JT and his new additions are just the incubation of a company intent on growth. Even if we do not receive all of the big dollars we are hoping for the money will be sufficent to launch "a plan of growth". Zero debt and a nice potential (patent) revenue stream of millions and the proclaimed goal of acquisitions.......
60 a cents share seems a bit cheap.
good luck all....... teremoto
