Many on this board are much too young to recall the happenings in the 60's with the whole Cuban situation.
I subscribed to a publication called "American Opinion" that published the record on Castro two years before he came to power. Not only was that record ignored by the the general press, but even a man named Otto Otepka, a State Dep't. employee, presented a report to the powers that be in Washington and a number of years later (after Castro's rise to power) it was found in the bottom drawer of someone in the department who had died.
The first Cubans came here because they wanted a place to prepare for an effort to take back their land. The infamous Bay of Pigs fiasco took place. Our government had promised air cover to the valiant band of Cuban patriots who wanted to take back their island. At the last moment, the US cancelled their plans for cover and betrayed those men who had so bravely decided to fight.........but they weren't betrayed once, they were betrayed twice! They were never notified that the air support was called off and went ahead with their invasion. Most of them were killed whcih assured Castro that there could not be another serious attempt to remove him until another generation of young patriots could be raised.
Conspiracy? I think so.
Take a look at what our so-called representatives are doing regarding the current mess which has arisen. We need a house cleaning in
Washington and in my opinion, every professional politician should be thrown out and just ordinary Americans should be elected. The Founding Fathrs never expected Congress to become a career choice. Originally, the people selected someone to take a couple of years off from their job (or business) and vote to control the growth of government.
Let's stop the increase in the growth of the cost and control of the federal government.
