Big, maybe he quit because negotiations; i.e. settlement is at hand and his services are no longer critical to the success of the mission.  I would be surprised if he left in the midst of active litigation.  Ron would have to weigh in on that issue.  Would a partner in the law firm, leave in the middle of litigation?
