Makes sense....  In some situations, just sitting back and letting the opposition burn themselves is an acceptable strategy.  We see it in politics all the time - one party gets something good going, the opposition offers no response and, sure enough, some idiot says the wrong thing and the "something good going" dies a miserable death.
