Totally agree re: Suburban mania.

What is really insane, actually - extremely irresponsible, is what is going on in China.  Industry spewing out emissions...  But what is worse, and not necessarily Chins'a fault, is what foreign automakers are doing there (or NOT doing). China has no domestic car-makers, and won't, but they allow foreign car-makers to build cars in China for sale in China. So US, European, and other car-makers have virtually all moved in to sap that market. The amazing thing is that they don't install any emissions equipment in cars made in China as a cost saving measure. Unbelievable!  Irresponsible at the highest level....disgusting. And I'm surprised Gore hasn't exposed this fact.  Probably the same in South America and Africa. 

A recent documentry about a study done in Oregan to determine pollution moving inland from Portland showed that there was more crap in the air on the coast than 50 miles inland.  Researchers were scratching their heads - how could this be?  Source - China, and the air actually cleansed as it moved inland. That's how bad it is....
