Message: Taking Afrezza When You Have a Cold

I decided to take a look at what the diabetes community had to say about Afrezza, so I did a search for "Afrezza" on the http://www.tudiabetes.org/forum/topic/search?q=afrezza web-site that afrezzauser referenced in an earlier post.First, this looks like an excellent site for learning about what the community thinks about diabetes and the problems and solutions that people have concerning the control of diabetes. Thanks AU for posting the URL.

The reactions that most had toward Afrezza was not very positive, but I believe that it is mostly due to ignorance about Afrezza. They did make some good points about dosage that I was not thinking about before. If you get a cold or respiratory infection, absorption may be hampered, thus reducing the amount of the dose that reaches the bloodstream. Also, if you cough while inhaling, you will not be sure as to how much of the drug will be absorbed. This seems like it may be a legitimate concern. If the dosage is uncertain, do you take more immediately, or wait to see what happens to your blood glucose level before taking another dose.

What do you think?
