Imaginary conversation:

Bernanke: "What should we do today, Timmy?"

Geithner: "The same thing we do every day, Benny!"

"What's that?"

"Hammer the gold price!"

"It's not working like it used to, though."

"That's ok, all we have to do is hold on until our QUACKONOMICS take hold."

"What if Keynes is wrong?"

"In the long run, we're all dead."

"Ah yes, the Master did say that. Silly me, I forgot. But what if the whole thing blows up in our faces?"

"Well, then we'll just pull some letters from our FED Alphabet soup box, and string together a nonsensical acronym, pull strings here and push all the usual buttons. Who cares if there are no real values anymore?"

"Yeah, who needs real values when we can decide what those values should be."

"I agree, it's better if it's planned out. You know, in an intelligent way."

"Yeah, not like all the other times in history."

"Yes, this time is different."

Remember, "This time is different" are the four most expensive words in the English Language. Little Timmy and Benny are about to find out the hard way. Man of the Year for Ben Bernanke is like saying it's time to short his stock.
