Message: my bet is on ThyssenKrupp as one of our suitors

Pickawinner,

Thanks for posting this stuff. Some comments:

- Clever engineers!

- The link to the CO2 reduction is also a good one, not only it would reduce the impact of human activities (driving around in big heavy cars, seen those muscle pick-ups?) the effort in doing so could bring them some incentives (tax reduction) from governments (or they could approach the UN for some "green" money?).

- If a similar case could be made for making the components lighter using stainless steel plus chromite in a special process to make the material stronger (resulting in smaller/thinner components), hence prolong the life of lighter cars (more CO2 credits).

Note: cars made using Al could be lighter, but repair costs are high. For some car, a hood with a small dent must be replaced (the whole thing) rather than a spot repair). Using new components and junk the old companents would add more CO2 to the atmosphere.

- Presumably, the gas-fired conversion process for chromite would be "greener" than that using electricity. Perhaps, Frank could discuss with the governments for some reactions, at least to give them some good talking points.

PS: Yes, your bet about ThyssenKrupp as a suitor could be just bang on. Fingers crossed.
