With what's happening next door at LBE and having the Chinese come in seeking the cheap resources , the Chinese will be right next door watching the events unfold in the entire Shaw dome.
This is a clip right out of the Interfax article:
"Jien Nickel said it needs to secure additional nickel resources, as the
company will need to source over 80 percent of its raw material from
suppliers upon completion of its 15,000-ton nickel expansion project.
The company produced 25,500 tons of nickel sulfate in 2008."
I guess that if the long awaited "trio of reports" comes out and are "eye openers" there could be some greater global interest from many, let alone the fact that we now have a sleeping giant in the neighborhood. Global markets and corporations being what they are should make for an interesting bidding war if they do choose to increase their holdings in this area. GCR and ISM will likely be under their watch going forward.
Open pittable mining methods usually makes for a greater attraction wrt operating costs in mining. Ultimately it may be all about sheer tonnage.
Here's the number 5 company now on the doorstep, Anyone know who the No. 1 through no. 4 companies are? With Xstrata present and running the Kidd Creek site, whouldn't they have a vested interest in trying to secure feed stock that is local as well?
As Nickel77 likes to go on and on about, if property boundaries are an issue when trying to tear out the cheap ore, you can bet it won't be if the Chinese simply buy the whole shabang........LOL
I say let the games begin, present mining infrastructure in the area combined with the possibility of huge ore reserves should make for an time limited buying opportunity for the majors. The lowball basemetal prices are bottoming and if not possibly upticking as the worst may be behind us. Greed and fear took their toll, now comes the greed. :)
